Antique hand colored map showing Wards 8 and 9, part of Brookline, Massachusetts, from the Brookline Mass. Atlas by the Sanborn Map Company of New York, 1925. Ward 8: Streets shown in this map are Commonwealth Ave, Mountfort, Euston, Carlton and Ivy. Top of map shows Boston boundary. Landmarks on this map are Merry's Garage at top with many Auto Sales buildings, an Auto Washing building with filling station, the B & A Rail Road, another filling station below the railroad tracks, many brick veneered buildings (vend.) at the center of the map, several Auto stalls, many brick buildings and some frame buildings. Reverse side of this map shows Ward 9 of Brookline. Streets shown on this side are Harvard, Lawton, and Thorndike. Inset map at bottom left shows the Northeast corner of Ward 9 including the Boston boundary. Landmarks on this map are Thorndike Garage, Perfection Spring and Equipment Co., a large Auto Car Sales and Service building with attached show room and car storage, many brick veneered buildings (vend.) and some other buildings. This map was added to and corrected over time to update buildings and streets. There are small rectangles of paper with updates glued to the page and the updates were recorded and signed in a table at the front of the atlas. Fair Antique condition; page is wavy, few pencil marks from updates, some light toning at edges, edge has red leather atlas tab and an imprint from another atlas tab. Pencil marking can potentially be removed. Approx. 26.5" x 18".
