Antique statistical chart of the United States, published in the "Statistical Atlas of the United States based on the results of the Ninth Census 1870 with Contributions from many Eminent Men of Science and several Departments of the Government," compiled by Francis Chart Showing the Aggregate Number of Idiots and the Proportion of Males and Females, White, Colored, Native, or Foreignâ ‚¬ ¦ Prepared for the Statistical Atlas of the United States by Fred H. Weiss, Sec'y. Illinois State Board of Charities. "Idiocy" was used as a term to define people with mental disabilities from birth. Left is males and right is females. Circle charts at bottom show the increase in people with mental disabilities between the years 1860 and 1870. Good to very good condition with some minor stains, mostly in the margin. Repaired tear at top that goes into the chart and slight paper loss on right side. Measures 13 x 19.5 inches to the neatline.
