Antique black and white engraved illustration showing two views of Chicago, Illinois- the city from the Water Works, and the Mouth of the Chicago River. Published in William Cullen Bryant's classic 1872 work, "Picturesque America." Very good antique condition with some mild toning which is heavier at the outer edges of the paper, and a small tear at the right edge of the paper which has been repaired using archival materials. Image measures approximately 7" x 9.25" (H x W) overall. Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned.
