Antique black and white pictorial map of Harvard University and its vicinity in Cambridge, Massachusetts, created specifically for the Harvard Summer School by Edward A. Schmitz with cartoons by Charles W. Holmes, c. 1935. Features cartoons which note activities for the students including "Feeding squirrels in the Yard," taking in the "Moonlight on the Charles," "Dancing at The Union," "Tea at The Union," boating and rowing along the Charles River, and a couple driving away in a car towards "Big-league Baseball games." The cartoons also note various buildings and points of interest such as the glass flowers collection, the statue of John Harvard, the Jarvis Field Tennis Courts, and the "Former site of the Washington Elm" on Cambridge Common. The map includes the Kirkland House building, which was completed in 1933. The center of the decorative compass rose is the Harvard Veritas shield. Very good antique condition with minor toning of the paper, some minor wrinkling/creasing of the paper, and a couple spots of very mild foxing, as well as a rectangle of darker toning in the lower right corner. Measures approximately 19.5" x 16" to the outer edge of the border.
