Antique hand colored map by Colton, 1871, of the United States of America showing states, cities, towns, rivers, bodies of water, land forms, and railroads. In this map neither Alaska nor Hawaii are states. North and South Dakota are still one state called Dakota. Oklahoma is not in existence yet; it is on this map as Indian Territory. Modern Canada is British Possessions and Dominion of Canada. Many of the cross country railroads are simply estimated guesses, obvious when compared to later more accurate maps that show the railroads. Very good overall antique condition, paper is toned overall with minimal light foxing and staining throughout, approx. 16.5 x 28 inches.
