Antique comparative chart of the largest rivers in the world as known around 1830, published by Starling in the Geographical Annual, or Family Cabinet Atlas, a charming miniature atlas published annually in the 1830s. The date on the page in 1830 but it may have been included in a later edition. At this time, the longest known river was Paro or Bent River, from Lake Titicaca to the Atlantic Ocean, which is now known as the Amazon and it is now known that Lake Titicaca is not the source. The Nile is the 6th longest. Original hand-coloring. Measures approx. 4.25 x 6.5 inches to the paper edges. Very good condition with slight toning at page edges.
