Genuine Antique Map
1725
Maker: De Aefferden.
Antique black and white map showing part of the Netherlands that includes Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, the Hague, and more. Published in El Atlas Abreviado, O Compendiosa Geographia Del Mundo Antiguo, Y Nuevo ... 1725 edition. The atlas had re-engraved plates from Aefferden's 1696 first issue of the atlas in Antwerp, itself based on Jacques Peeters' very successful L'Atlas En Abrege, published in 1692. Don Francisco De Aefferden was a cleric in Antwerp and his atlas was unusual for its Spanish text. The maps contained therein are charming miniature representations of the region depicted. Decorative border on the cartouche and scale marker. Very good condition, archivally restored and backed with light-weight tissue. Approx. 5.75 x 7 inches to the neatline. **SOLD**
