1787
Maker: Bonne
Antique map of the East Coast of the United States from 1787, by Rigobert Bonne. This map predates Maine, which is why Massachusetts Bay reaches to Canada. The spelling of Massachusetts is Machasuzet Bay in one place and Machasulet Baye in another. Includes charming depictions of Cape Cod, Long Island, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Chesapeake Bay, the eastern Great Lakes, and the early states. This map was published just a few years after the end of the Revolutionary War. Various forts are indicated. Includes some towns, cities, topography, etc. This map shows Delaware as part of Pennsylvania and other interesting early and possibly inaccurate borders. Good to very good antique condition with toning that is darker in the margins, and some small stains. Tight margin on left side and somewhat deep crease at horizontal center fold (as issued). Measures approx. 13.5 x 9.25 inches to the neatline.
