Genuine Antique Map

1775

Maker: Coronelli / Nolin

Antique map of the Kingdom of Hungary, from a composite atlas circa 1775. A composite atlas is an atlas made up of a selection of previously issued maps. This atlas appears to have been partly by Louis Charles Desnos and an atlas title page dated 1769 by Desnos was present. The full title translates to "THE KINGDOM OF HUNGARY divided into UPPER and LOWER HUNGARY, with SLAVONIA, subdivided into their COUNTIES. By Father P. Coronelli. Cosmographer of the Republic of Venice Series. Dedicated to Monsieur Rouille, Lord of Coudray, advisor to the King in his Councils, Attorney General of His Majesty in his Chamber of Accounts. IN PARIS At I. B. Nolin's, Quay del Torrilla. The Sign of the Place des Victoires with Privilege of the King. 1742" This map has original hand-coloring and shows cities, towns, villages, rivers, topographic detail, etc. With Budapest at the very center ( labeled Buda or Offen Pesth), Belgrade at bottom, and a dramatic battle scene around the title. Good to very good antique condition with some minor stains at bottom. Measures approx. 17.5 x 23.5 inches to the neatline.
