Antique blue back nautical chart by James Imray & Son, London, 1889 corrected to 1890. This chart is part of a series of charts used to navigate the western route to China for the China Trade.  Includes the Java Sea between Java and Borneo, with Batavia (now Jakarta), Sunda Strait, Banka Strait, Billiton (Belitung), Eastern Sumatra, and the Thousand Islands of Indonesia. Very good condition with some minor toning, slight stains and other signs of age. This chart appears to have been professionally restored. This chart was bound at the edges with fabric, which has protected the edges of the chart. Approx. 40 x 48 inches. It will frame beautifully but may require some flattening.
