Antique black and white nautical chart published by James Imray & Son in 1889 and corrected to 1890. This chart is part of a series of charts used to navigate the western route to China as part of the China Trade. It shows the area between Malaysia and Borneo, with Singapore, part of Sumatra, and the Riau Archipelago Islands with detailed bathymetric data. A previous owner who used the chart has plotted some courses in pencil. Very good condition, with mild toning, slight stains and signs of age. Tightly rolled. This chart appears to have been professionally restored. Measures approximately 48" x 40" to the neat lines. Blue back chart. It will frame beautifully but may require some flattening.
