Antique map of Wales by John Speed, sold by John Sudbury and George Humble, dated 1610. Published in the 1611 first edition of his atlas "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain." Impressively framed. Features a border comprised of twelve views of cities in Wales, set in ovals, as well as four additional views as insets. The ocean includes several sea monsters and ships, as well as a dramatic compass rose. Many cities, towns, forests, hills, and waterways are noted. Original hand-coloring. Good condition, toned, tear in upper left. Approx. 15.25 x 20.5 to the neatline. Approx. 20.75 x 25.75 inches to frame edges.
