Antique uncolored map of part of the Tonga Islands, called the Friendly Islands by Captain Cook,whose several voyages in the area are marked with dotted lines. Published by Bonne and Desmarest, in the 1787 Atlas Encyclopedique. Includes several inset maps of the various islands and one of the entrance to the bay of Nuku'alofa. As the compass rose shows, north is to the left side of the page. Very good condition with mild toning, a few light spots/stains, and a small separation at bottom. Approx. 9.25 x 13.5 inches to the neatlines.
