From the Atlas National Illustre des 86 Departments et des Possessions de la France, Divise par Arrondissements, Cantons et Communea, by Levasseur, 1851. Surrounded by exquisitely detailed engraved black and white illustrations and vignettes, as well as statistical and general information. Very good condition. Measures approx. 11 1/2" x 16 3/4 (h x w).

Pyrénées-Atlantiques is a department located in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the southwest corner of metropolitan France. Originally named Basses-Pyrénées, the name of the department was changed to "Pyrénées-Atlantiques" in 1969. The principal towns or communes are Pau, Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz, Hendaye, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Billère, and Lons.
