1805
Maker: Laurie and Whittle
Antique hand colored map of Europe by Laurie and Whittle, 1805. This map reflects some important changes in the politics of Europe, specifically the expansion of France during the Napoleonic Wars, as well as the changing borders of Prussia, Germany, Poland, Austria-Hungary, and Italy before unification. This map was almost certainly made using the same plate as the 1794 version but with some minor updates, although in some cases the previous boundaries are still visible as dashed lines (Hungary). A fascinating look at Europe during a specific moment in history. With cities and some topography. Very good antique condition with some minor stains. Measures approx. 18.75 x 22 inches to the neatline.
