Antique map of Monmouth, or Monmouthshire, which was one of the thirteen counties of Wales that existed from 1536 until their abolition in 1974. It was located in the south-east of Wales. By Robert Morden, first published in 1695 and again in 1722. This map is from the 1722 edition of Camden's "Britannia: Or a Chorographical Description of Great Britain and Ireland Together with the Adjacent Islands..." It shows towns, villages, country estates, roads, and more. Topographic information is depicted pictorially. Handsome cartouche. Very good condition with minor signs of age, such as toning. Center fold as issued. Measures approx. 13.75 x 16.5 inches to the neatline. This map appears to have been restored (cleaned, flattened) by a previous owner.
