Antique map of Cumberland, England. Cumberland is an area of North West England which was historically a county. By Robert Morden, first published in 1695 and again in 1722. This map is from the 1722 edition of Camden's "Britannia: Or a Chorographical Description of Great Britain and Ireland Together with the Adjacent Islands..." It shows towns, villages, country estates, roads, and more. Topographic information is depicted pictorially. Handsome cartouche and charming ships in the British Ocean. Very good condition with minor signs of age, such as toning and some slight image loss. Center fold as issued. Measures approx. 14.25 x 16.5 inches to the neatline. This map appears to have been restored (cleaned, flattened) by a previous owner.
