Antique black and white page of woodcut prints showing eight detailed scenes of architecture, vistas, and people living and working in the town of Menton, on the French Riviera, with text below about the region. Published in the August 21, 1880 edition of Harper's Weekly Magazine. The artist's signatures are "T.H. Thomas" and "Pearson. SC". The text below describes Menton as having been "a quiet little Italian town" twenty years ago despite Menton being an exclave of the Principality of Monaco until 1860. Very good antique condition with very mild toning throughout and some minor wrinkling of the paper, mainly at the edges, as well as a fold in the center and a very small area of staining/soiling along the outer edge at the bottom right of the paper. Page measures approximately 16" x 10.5" overall.
