Antique black and white map of the world on Mercator's projection, published by I. Low in the New Encyclopaedia c. 1800. This map features the routes of Captain Cook's expeditions, including his "Former Tracks ..shewing the non Existence of a Terra Australis or Southern Continent". Some of New Guinea is still unmapped and the United States had not yet purchased the Louisiana Territory. Very good condition with some very light staining mostly near border. Lighter strike. Approx. 7 x 9.5 inches to the neatline.
