Antique hand-colored map of the world as known to ancient Europeans, including Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. Includes the route of Alexander the Great from Greece to India. Two inset maps: Comparative Map of the World and The World according to Ptolemy. Copyrighted in 1844 by Mitchell, published by E.H. Butler in Mitchell's Ancient Atlas, Classical and Sacred in 1871. Very good antique condition with mild toning and some minor spots. Measures approx. 8.5 x 10.75 inches to the neatline.
