1864
Maker: Johnson and Ward.
Antique hand colored map of Texas from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World, 1864. This map is similar to our 1866 version of this map (item code SOU266), except for the Houston & Guaymas Railroad that can be seen going through the Presidio area. This railroad was never built, probably due to lack of materials and funding caused by the Civil War. Townships delineated by color, with detail of towns, roads, routes, railroad, landforms and water bodies, and insets of Galveston Bay, Sabine Lake, and the Northern Part of Texas. Fair to good antique condition, overall toning, some stains, spots/foxing, some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges. Measures approximately 16.75 x 23 inches. Price has been reduced to reflect condition.
