1864
Maker: Johnson and Ward.
Antique hand colored map of North America and Central America from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World, 1864. Features early county borders in Canada, Alaska as a Russian possession, and interesting state borders in the US: a large Idaho that includes Montana and Wyoming, North and South Dakota are one large Dakota, and Arizona stretches west into what is now southern Nevada including the area of Las Vegas. Decorative border, approx. 17" x 22" to outer border edge. Fair condition with light toning, some edge wear, some spots, and seam separations on both sides that go into the map (one of the seam separations becomes a tear as it moved away from the map fold) all of which have been repaired with archival tape. Priced as is.
