Maker: Bellin.
Antique uncolored map of Northeastern Canada by Bellin, 1757. Shows the area of Hudson Bay, James Bay, and the Hudson Strait. Text is in German, and in addition to place names, includes descriptions about what is know about the area. Examples include the text on the eastern coast of Hudson Bay which says "This entire coast is almost not known", and the note in the upper left of the map which states, "The English search in this area for a throughway; it is however not there." That refers to the search for the Northwest Passage that would bring ships more easily to the Pacific Ocean. Very good condition with some light minor staining and creasing. Folds as issued. Approx. 8.5 x 11.5 inches to the neatline.
