Antique hand colored map of the Americas by Janvier, 1762. Early borders make this map quite interesting. This map was published before Captain Cook's voyages, and therefore most of the west coast of North America is entirely imagined. Note the Bay of the West and the land stretching west that claims to have been seen in 1741. The map also includes some of the Pacific Islands. Very good condition with some toning in margins and a center fold as issued. Approx. 12 x 17.75 inches to the neatline.
