From an 1878 atlas by Charles H. Hitchcock, the New Hampshire State Geologist, a printed color map of New Hampshire's mining region on its central border with Vermont, in the late 19th century, showing the sites of gold , copper, and lead mines, with a colored key to all the minerals to be found in the area; pre-dating the earliest USGS topographic maps of New Hampshire/NH, the atlas was the first comprehensive map of the New Hampshire's bedrock and surficial geology. Very good condition, paper is toned and soiled, margin tear lower left corner, map measures approx. 28 x 21 inches, full sheet measures 20 x 25.75 inches.
