Antique hand colored map of the United States c. 1866, with states and territories delineated by color, and western states in an early configuration, with "Dacotah" absorbing both present-day Dakotas as well as Wyoming, and Oklahoma marked as "Indian Territory. the southern tip of Nevada belongs to Arizona Territory. Includes insets of Pensacola Bay and Hampton Roads and Norfolk Harbor, and showing detail of cities and towns, water bodies, roads, and many interesting notations regarding Native American tribes. This map has a copyright date of 1860 at the bottom but was updated regularly after that until eventually a new plate was created. Fair condition, with some surface soil, minor stains, and small tears at paper edge. Measure approx. 13.25 x 21 inches.
