Antique hand colored map of what is now Northern Germany and part of Poland Created in 1644 by Hondius. This map includes two compass roses with ships and two ornate cartouches, one with a reclining woman holding a large key and German coat of arms, the other features putti with a coat of arms and banner that reads Mourir pour vivre. This map shows the Baltic Sea in the north to Wittenberg in the south and from Wismar in the west to modern Darlow in Poland (then Rugenwalde) in the east. Prominent cities on this map include Berlin, Stettin, Rostock, Brandenburg, Frankfurt an der oder, and more. Great detail of rivers, lakes, forests, marshes, cities, towns, and regional borders.
