Genuine Antique Map

1873

Maker: Bufford

Antique map of part of Falmouth, Massachusetts, by J. H. Bufford, 1873. Large lithograph map of a real estate development along Grand Avenue at Falmouth Beach, featuring 6 vignettes of local architecture. Some might recognize this area as the end of the Falmouth Road Race. This map includes named roads, lot numbers, Central Park, Crown Ave around Observatory Hill, bath houses along the beaches on Vineyard Sound, and more. The images show the Observatory, Cottage No. 3 on Crown Ave, Tower's Hotel, Cottage No. 2 on Indiana Ave, Cottage No. 5 on Vista Ave, and a proposed chapel. This map has been professionally restored and backed with paper with canvas on the back for extra strength. The map retains signs of age including some foxing, a water stain on the left side, and wear to the original paper edges that has been stabilized and can be hidden with a mat when framing. Measures approx. 21.25 x 33.25 inches to the neatline.
