Antique hand colored illustration of visitors in Camp Wikoff, (Montauk Point, NY) coming to see Roosevelt's Rough Riders. The Rough Riders were quarantined at Camp Wikoff in 1898, after fighting in Cuba during the Spanish-American war. Published by Harper's Weekly in 1898. On verso is their article on the subject, describing the poor conditions at the camp (which were much improved later on.) Fair to good overall antique condition with some minor toning, surface soiling, and creasing of the paper, as well as a noticeable tear at the bottom which has been archivally repaired. Image measures approximately 8.25" x 13.25" to the neatline.
