1856
Maker: Cassin
Antique print of a Grey Petrel, a sea bird of the southern hemisphere, from Cassin's Illustrations, 1856. It is unclear why a bird from the southern hemisphere would be pictured in a book titled Illustrations of the Birds of California, Texas, Oregon, British and Russian America, but perhaps there is another bird that was called the Gray Petrel and its name has since changed. Chromolithograph with vibrant original color. Good antique condition with some mild toning and slight signs of age. Measures approx. 6.5 x 10 inches to the paper edges.
Genuine Antique Print from 1856
