Maker: J.W. Thompson & Co.
Antique print of a rose, probably from a Nurseryman's Guide, done by a Boston lithography company, c. 1880. Nurserymen's plates were an American innovation. Vintage Nurseryman's Guides provide a "cornucopia" of American chromolithography at its apogee. Here are seed catalogues containing lovely chromos of American horticulture and floriculture, fruits and flowers, ornamental trees, shrubs, roses, and much more. Pride of place is given to the work of the Rochester Lithographing Co. and the J.W. Thompson Co. who designed, engraved and printed some of the most beautiful specimens of the genre. Vivid original coloring. Matted. Very good antique condition. Measures approx. 14 x 11 to the outer edges of the mat.
