Hand colored antique coast chart of the Rigolets in Louisiana, 1859. The Rigolets is between Lake Pontchartaine and Lake Borgne. Fort Pike appears on this map- The United States constructed Fort Pike following the War of 1812 to protect passage on the Rigolets. The fort was abandoned in 1890 when it was no longer considered necessary. The chart also includes Rigolets Light, which was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Recent hand coloring. With folds as issued. Good to very good condition with some foxing and minor stains especially at the fold lines. Measures approx. 20.75 x 30.5 inches to the neatline.
