Antique nautical charts No. 12, 13, and 14 published by the US Coast Survey, joined to form one large chart covering Block Island Sound, Rhode Island to Chatham and Nantucket, Massachusetts. Includes the entrance to Narragansett Bay and Newport, Buzzards Bay, Nantucket Sound, the Elizabeth Islands, the south coast of Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. With soundings, great coastal detail, sailing directions, information on shoals and dangers, and nine recognition profiles which show what a sailor would have seen from a certain place, such as "Approach to Nantucket" showing the town in the distance. Very good overall antique condition, this chart is in original unrestored condition and has some signs of age, including mild stains, wear at the paper edges, some surface damage, and the paper is separating slightly at the join seams. Backed on original linen. Can be restored for an additional cost. Chart measures approx. 37 x 81.5 inches to the neatline.
