Antique map of the area around New York City by Thomas Conder, published in Dr. Gordon's History of the American War, 1788. This is a fantastic example of a rare map showing the vicinity of Manhattan during the Revolutionary War, including Fort Lee, Fort Washington, and the March of the Troops under General Clinton. Features early place names: Brookland (Brooklyn), Flatbush, Gravesend, New Utrecht, Gowen's Cover, Flatland, Flushing, New Town, Whiston, West Chester (Westchester), Frogs Neck, East Chester, Bloomingdale, King's Bridge, Fort Independence, Spiking Devil, Jeffery Hook, Cheveaux de Friese, Fort Washington, Haerlem, Morrisania, Turtle Bay, Kep's Bay, Robt Murray's House, Bergen, Brookland Ferry, Red Hook, Hobock (Hoboken NJ), Bushwick, Horen's Brook, Dykeman's Bridge, and more. This map has been archivally cleaned. Very good condition with mild signs of age. Measures approx. 10.5 x 6.5 inches to the neatline.
