Antique printed color map of the White Mountains, New Hampshire with part of western Maine. This rare map shows areas in which land is being acquired, ranger stations, fire lookout stations, hotels, trails, and more. On this map the area around the Mount Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods is now out of the Proclamation Boundary ("Area in which purchases are being made"). Printed by the US Geological Survey in 1920. These maps are almost never seen on the market, although they were produced every few years. The only other example we could find is in the collection at Dartmouth College. Measures approx. 31 x 30.25 inches to the neatline. With folds as issued. Good antique condition with four notable stains, some other minor signs of age including mild wrinkling, some wear on folds and small separations at fold intersections, mild toning.
