Maker: Valentine's Manual
Antique color lithograph print published in D. T. Valentine's 1861 manual of New York City, shows a view of fireworks being lit off at New York City Hall in celebration of laying the final piece of the Transatlantic Cable. The cable stretched for over two-thousand miles between Newfoundland and Scotland and provided almost instant communication between Euope and America, however a new cable would have to be installed in 1866 after the original's insulation failed. Good condition, approximately 4.5" x 7" to the paper edges.
