Antique facsimile of an older chart showing New York Harbor and Bay. This map was published in D.T. Valentine's Manual in 1861 and is a copy of an older chart by Bellin from 1764. It includes Navesink (Neversink on the map), Staten Islanad, part of Long Island including what is now Brooklyn (Gravesend on the map), New York City was just a small settlement on the tip of Manhattan Island, etc. Many interesting notes on the map: This was the time when there was an East and West New Jersey, some roads and ferries, and the place for Wintering the Kings Ships. It was printed on light-weight paper and has been archivally restored- cleaned and backed with light-weight archival paper for structural support. Very good restored condition with some slight waviness to the antique paper and repaired tear on left side, and tight margin with some added margin on left. Approx. 8.5 x 6.5 inches to the neatline.
