Antique black and white engraved illustration showing a view of The Narrows between Staten Island and Brooklyn, New York, as seen from Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. In the foreground at Fort Hamilton, there is a figure sitting and looking out at the bay, along with other figures walking, horse riding, and herding sheep along a trail. In the background are sailboats and ships along the water. Illustrated by William Henry Bartlett, engraved by R. Wallis, and published in Nathaniel Parker Willis's "American Scenery," c. 1840. Very good antique condition with mild toning of the paper and some minor foxing/soiling of the paper in the margins. Page measures approximately 6.75" x 10" overall.
