Maker: Pease
Antique print published in the Documentary History of the State of New York, by Richard H. Pease, 1849. This handsome print was made in 1849, copied from an earlier print of 1768. Casconchiagon (or Little Seneca's River) is an historical name for the Genesee River in New York, with the "Great Cataract on the Casconchiagon" referring to the Lower Falls in what is now Rochester. It was famously depicted in the 1760s by artist Captain Thomas Davies, who made sketches of views that were later engraved by Mazell. Black and white steel engraving. Could be hand-colored by our professional artist for an additional $40. Image measures approx. 4.25 x 6.25 inches, while the paper is approx. 9 x 11.25 inches. Very good antique condition with some small spots in the margin, slight waviness to the antique paper.
