Antique pictorial map of New York State by Gribbroek, 1935, copyright Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences. This fascinating illustrated map is full of historical information. The illustrations and text offer information about the Native Americans of New York, including notable residents, places, legends, events, and beliefs. The border consists of cultural objects, information, and notable people. Inset map in the upper left shows the New York City and Long Island areas. Original printed color. The paper appears to be specially made to resemble birch bark. Very good condition with some small spots in the margins, some minor wear/small tears at paper edges. Mild foxing in the lakes (see photo) and possibly other places. Slight stain in the upper left near the border blurb about churches and into the map. Measures approx. 17.75 x 23.5 inches to the edge of the printed area. Paper measures approx. 18.5 x 24.5 inches.
