Antique pictorial map of the Adirondack area of New York by N. Jane Phelps, 1935, copyright by James G. Riggs, published by the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences. This charming illustrated map features historical facts, local flora and fauna, notable events and people, and beautiful original printed color. The illustrated border is uncolored and rendered almost like a bird's eye view, with creatures at the bottom, trees and men in various scenes in the middle and mountains and flying birds at the top, all delicately rendered in brown ink. Good to very good condition with some toning, very mild spots, some minor wear/small tears at paper edges. Toning is slightly darker on right side. A few tears in the upper right including a 5 inch tear, all of which have been repaired. Measures approx. 17.5 x 21.5 inches to the edge of the printed area. Paper measures approx. 18.5 x 24 inches.
