Antique hand-colored map published in 1850 by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. The left side of the map is Western Australia "containing the settlements of Swan River and King George's Sound from surveys sent to the Colonial Office." The right side of the map is Van Diemen Island, now known as Tasmania (a previous owner of this map wrote the new name in pencil above the title). With exquisite detail of topography and settlements. Very good overall antique condition, with some toning and wear at the paper edges. Measures approx. 12.25 x 15 inches to theneatline. (h x w)
