Genuine Antique Print

1850

Maker: Virtue

Antique print from the Atlas to Barclay's Universal English Dictionary, Newly Revised by B.B. Woodward, published by Virtue & Company circa 1850. Undated. This print features Edward I Edward I, byname Edward Longshanks, (born 1239—died 1307), son of Henry III and king of England in 1272–1307, during a period of rising national consciousness. He strengthened the crown and Parliament against the old feudal nobility. He subdued Wales, destroying its autonomy; and he sought (unsuccessfully) the conquest of Scotland. Very good antique condition, backed on fabric with some minor spots. Measures approx. 11 x 8.5 inches to the paper edges.
