Antique print from the Atlas to Barclay's Universal English Dictionary, Newly Revised by B.B. Woodward, published by Virtue & Company circa 1850. Undated. This print features King Stephen, also called Stephen Of Blois, (born c. 1097—died 1154), king of England from 1135 to 1154. He gained the throne by usurpation but failed to consolidate his power during the ensuing civil strife. Very good antique condition, backed on fabric with some mildspots and stains. Measures approx. 11 x 8.5 inches to the paper edges.
