Framed antique map of a development plan for part of Martha's Vineyard called Lagoon Heights in Oak Bluffs. Plan includes multiple parks, beach with bathing houses, and numbered land plots. This history of Lagoon Heights is quite interesting- there was a hotel of considerable size and many cottages in the section of Lagoon Heights, Oak Bluffs, but by the 1920s, there were few houses and the area was nearly abandoned. At that time there was a revival of interest in the area. The original development of the area in the 1870s was inspired by the Methodist and Baptist camps which had developed into permanent cottages, and real estate speculators saw an opportunity. There is light blue-gray printed color on each section of plots. Also includes two building vignettes and a view of the coast that is printed sideways. Framed with a neutral mat and a black frame. Map has a few indents and a few minor spots, but overall very good condition. Frame may have some minor imperfections. Approx. 33 x 41 framed.
