Genuine Antique Print

1890

Maker: Harper's Weekly

Antique uncolored print of a beach scene in 1890 with the Atlantic City Boardwalk in the background. Published in Harper's Weekly, August 30th, 1890. The first boardwalk built in the United States was in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1870. The boardwalk was rebuilt for the fourth time in 1890 and dedicated in May of that year. This image shows a huge crowd enjoying the beach- playing in the water, lounging on covered hammocks, strolling with parasols, boating, even babies in beach buggies. This print could be colored by our local professional colorist for an additional cost. Very good antique condition with some minor toning and wear at the paper edges. Measures approx. 9.5 x 14 inches to the image border.
