Antique steel engraving print published in Picturesque Europe by E. M. Wimperis, View of Chepstow Castle in Wales over River Wye, cattle in foreground. Chepstow Castle at Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales is the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain. Located above cliffs on the River Wye, construction began in 1067 under the instruction of the Norman Lord William FitzOsbern. Excellent condition with minimal signs of age as pictured. Measures approximately 8" x 11" to just outside the printed image including text.
