Antique black & white engraving print by maker Robert Brown published in Countries of The World Vol. 3-4, shows a view of two natives of the Marquesas Islands standing next to a carved wooden idol. The culture of the native islanders was almost completely destroyed when European explorers introduced new diseases in the 17th century. Good condition, toned, approximately 7.5" x 10" to the paper edges.
