1872

Maker: Picturesque America

Antique page with two black and white engraved illustrations showing scenes in Wisconsin. The natural formation of the Dells on the Wisconsin River was named by Early French explorers as dalles, a rapids or narrows on a river in voyageur French. Published in William Cullen Bryant's classic 1872 work, "Picturesque America." Very good overall antique condition with mild toning throughout and some tiny spots in the margins. Page measures approximately 125" x 9.55" (H x W) overall. Text could be folded under or hidden with a mat when framing. Could be hand colored by our professional colorist for an additional cost- please contact us if you are interested in having it colored. Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned.
