Antique map of Japan by Rand McNally from 1912, showing details of provinces, land features and water bodies, cities and towns, with insets of South Extension of Osumi Province, Ryukyu Islands, Ezo and Chishima, Outline Map of Japan, and the Island of Formosa (Taiwan). At this time Japan claimed Korea and Taiwan. Japan controlled Taiwan from 1895 to 1945, following their victory in the First Sino-Japanese War and the subsequent Treaty of Shimonoseki. The Japanese control of Korea lasted from 22 August 1910 until 15 August 1945. Original printed color. Very good overall antique condition, 19.25 x 26 inches to the neatline.
